WHY ALN EXISTS

No animal should have to wait for blood.

When our dogs needed blood, we had to run around making late night calls, sharing frantically on social media, and hoping pet parents would come forward. Even when we did find donors, many of them didn’t match, delaying things further.

We decided that no animal and no pet parent or rescuer must go through the same. Animal Lifeline Network is our effort to ensure that every animal who needs blood is able to find it in time.

We are building a community of doctors, pet parents, rescuers and shelters working hard to close the gap between animals who need blood and healthy donors.

Pet parent concerns — answered

Healthy, weight-eligible pets replenish donated blood within 24–72 hours. You may notice mild tiredness the same evening, similar to how you might feel after a workout. Their quality of life, play, and appetite are unaffected by the next morning.
Dogs generally don't need sedation — gentle handling is enough. Cats may need light sedation to keep them calm and safe during the draw. Our vet team will assess your individual pet and discuss the decision with you before proceeding.
The needle prick is similar to any routine blood test your vet does. With the right restraint, environment, and a calm human beside them, most dogs tolerate the process very well. Many actually fall asleep during the 10–15 minute donation.
Every donor pet receives a free health check — blood work, vitals, and vet assessment — at every donation visit. That's preventive care worth thousands of rupees, at no cost to you, plus the knowledge that your pet is actively saving lives in the community.
All donations take place at registered partner veterinary clinics with trained staff and single-use sterile equipment. Animal Lifeline Network follows standard veterinary blood banking protocols. You are welcome to stay beside your pet throughout the entire process.
It depends on the level of anxiety. Mild nervousness is common and manageable. For very anxious pets, our vet team will assess whether light sedation is appropriate. We never force a donation if it's stressful for your pet — their wellbeing comes first, always.
No. Blood donation does not weaken your pet's immune system. The body replaces plasma within hours and red blood cells within a few days. The strict eligibility criteria and 2–3 month gap between donations ensure your pet always donates from a place of health and surplus.
Absolutely. Donation is entirely voluntary. You can withdraw before, between, or at any point mid-program — no questions asked. Your pet's comfort and your peace of mind always come first. There is no obligation once you register.
Reactions are rare in screened, eligible donors. If you notice extreme lethargy, pale gums, loss of appetite lasting more than a day, or any worrying symptoms — call our team immediately on 70222 57738. We will guide you and coordinate vet support if needed.
We notify you every time your pet's donation is used to save an animal. You may receive multiple notifications from a single donation, since one donation can yield up to three blood products. It's one of the most heartwarming moments for our donor families.
